In 1934, a devastating earthquake struck Darjeeling, destroying many buildings, including Sir Tartan’s Bungalow. The courtyard, however, was largely spared. After the earthquake, the courtyard was converted into a public park and named Shrubbery Nightingale Park. The park is home to a variety of trees and flowers, including rhododendrons, pines, and firs. It is also home to several birds, including nightingales, robins, and finches. The park is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of Darjeeling.
